Singing with Ernestine

Visitors to Louhelen have enjoyed learning and singing inspiring music with numerous talented artists. Among them was Ernestine Atkins of St. Louis, who composed many songs using words from the Bahá’í writings. Though she recently passed from this world, her legacy lives on in her wonderful music. Many guests continue to enjoy singing these songs in their communities.

Joined by Kay Yoder, Karen McCord, Sharon McCord, Ruhiyyih Yuille, and choirs composed of Louhelen's guests, a number of these songs have been recorded just for that purpose.

In Ernestine's words: "These recordings aren't professional productions. We just want to show this is one type of music that people can use in their own communities. It's all done in the spirit of service to Bahá’u’lláh."

You can listen to MP3 samples of them here, then order a CD from the Louhelen bookstore for only $8.00! Proceeds from the sale of these CDs help support more projects of this nature.

From the summer of 2003:

My Soul's Been Lifted Up
God Sufficeth All Things
Working Toward Oneness
Greater Is God than Every Great One
O Son of Man (Hidden Word #60)
What a Blessing It Will Be
Glorified Be My Lord, the All Glorious
We Are Building a New World
Prayer Is a Ladder
There Is No Power, nor Strength, Except in God
I Have Breathed Within Thee (Hidden Word #19)
No God Is There but Thee
Be Pure, O People of God
Bringers of Joy
Love Is a Wonderful Thing
When We Come to Worship Thee

From the summers of 2005 and 2006:

Arise For the Triumph
For My Mother and My Father
God Hath Chosen
In Spirit We Are United
My God Is Holy
Nothing Shall Be Impossible
Awake
Deny Not My Servant
I Can Hear the Voice
My God, My Lord, My Master
O Wayward Generation
One Big Family
Preparing to Meet My Beloved
Send Me Not From Thee
What a Power Is Love
With the Hands of Power
Would That My Mother Were With Me
