Getting to Louhelen

By Air

We strongly suggest you book your travel to Bishop International Airport in Flint, Michigan. Flint is served by several major airlines, including Delta, American, Southwest and United.

Flights arrive directly from Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, and Cleveland. In winter, there are also flights from Orlando and Tampa.

If traveling by air, please plan to arrive at Bishop International Airport in Flint at approximately 3 p.m. on the first day, and plan to leave at approximately 3 p.m. on the final day of the session. Please inform the Registrar if you are unable to make these arrangements.

From Bishop International Airport in Flint, Michigan (FNT):

  • Ground transportation from train and bus station to Louhelen may be arranged through Hey Taxi at (810) 629-7080. Please tell them that you are traveling to Louhelen. A one-way trip costs approximately $32.

From Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW):

  • From Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW): Public ground transportation from Detroit Metro airport can be arranged through one of several Detroit area companies. Please contact Louhelen for details. Also available is the Flint-based service, Hey Taxi (810) 629-7080.
  • Driving from the Detroit airport: Take highway I-94 west to highway US-23 north (approximately 15 miles). Travel north approximately 50 miles to highway I-69 east. Take I-69 east to exit #145 (Davison/Clarkston/M-15 exit). Turn right (south) as you come off the exit ramp—Louhelen Baha'i School is on this road (M-15, also called State Rd.) Travel about 1.5 miles to the Louhelen entrance. The main entrance to Louhelen will be on your right. There is a very prominent stone sign at the entrance. Enter the driveway and follow signs to the main building at the end of the driveway.

 

By Car

Louhelen is located 10 minutes from Flint, 1.5 hours from Detroit, and just 1 hour from Sarnia, Ontario, Canada.

From the North – Saginaw and Upper Michigan

Take I-75 southbound to I-475 South. Follow I-475 to I-69 East. Follow I-69 to exit #145 (Davison/Clarkston/M-15 exit). Turn right (south) as you come off the exit ramp. Louhelen Bahá’í School is on this road (M-15, also called State Road.) Travel about 1.5 miles to the Louhelen entrance. The main entrance to Louhelen will be on your right. There is a very prominent stone sign at the entrance. Enter the driveway and follow signs to the main building at the end of the driveway.

From the East – Port Huron/Sarnia

Take I-69 west to exit #145 (Davison/Clarkston/M-15 exit). Turn left (south) as you come off the exit ramp—Louhelen Baha'i School is on this road (M-15, also called State Road.) Travel about 1.5 miles to the Louhelen entrance. The main entrance to Louhelen will be on your right. There is a very prominent stone sign at the entrance. Enter the driveway and follow signs to the main building at the end of the driveway.

From the South/East – Detroit, Windsor

Take I-75 northbound to exit #91 (Davison/Clarkston/M-15 exit). Turn right as you come off the exit ramp and travel north on M-15. It is about 22 miles total distance from I-75 to the Louhelen entrance. You will pass through the towns of Ortonville and Goodrich along the way. Once you leave I-75 you will stay on M-15 for the rest of your travel to Louhelen. M-15 is known locally as State Road. About 5 miles after you pass through the town of Goodrich, there is a flashing yellow light at the Bristol Road intersection with M-15. This will alert you that you are nearing Louhelen. Continue on M-15, the main entrance will be on your left about 1/4 mile past the yellow light. There is a very prominent stone sign at the entrance. Enter the driveway and follow signs to the main building at the end of the driveway.

From the South – Ann Arbor, Toledo

Take US-23 north to I-69 east. Follow I-69 to exit #145 (Davison/Clarkston/M-15 exit). Turn right (south) as you come off the exit ramp. Louhelen Baha'i School is on this road (M-15, locally called State Road.) Travel about 1.5 miles to the Louhelen entrance. The main entrance to Louhelen will be on your right. There is a very prominent stone sign at the entrance. Enter the driveway and follow signs to the main building at the end of the driveway.

From the West – Chicago, Lansing

Take I-69 east to exit #145 (Davison/Clarkston/M-15 exit). Turn right (south) as you come off the exit ramp. Louhelen Bahá’í School is on this road (M-15, also called State Road.) Travel about 1.5 miles to the Louhelen entrance. The main entrance to Louhelen will be on your right. There is a very prominent stone sign at the entrance. Enter the driveway and follow signs to the main building at the end of the driveway.

 

By Bus

By Train
